Early in the twentieth century the Great Northern Railway carried passengers out to the wild "American Alps" of the new Glacier National Park in Montana. To entice and aid their passengers the railroad constructed a series of hotels, tent camps and chalets that travelers could hike or ride horseback between as they explored the majestic and dazzling wilderness. The railroad made a visit to the mountains comfortable and stylish.
Today only two of the original backcountry chalets remain, Granite Park Chalet and Sperry Chalet, and they are still helping adventurers explore the beauty of Glacier National Park.
Here at the gift shop we want to help you remember your visit to the Chalets, to Glacier Park and to the great outdoors. We can help you look forward to your next adventure, too.
